Fondata in 1844, Penfolds a devenit in timp una dintre cele mai apreciate si cunoscute crame din Australia. Vinul de astazi, Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz 2016, este un vin foarte bine echilibrat, care exprima caracteristicile vinurilor Penfolds si cucereste prin aromele complexe. Rosu intens, vinul dezvaluie note olfactive de fructe si ierburi aromatice, in vreme ce, pe palat, descoperim arome de paine crocanta, cuisoare, scortisoara, afine, prune negre glazurate si smochine. Va recomandam degustarea acestui vin la 16-18 grade Celsius, alaturi de preparate din carne de vita, vanat sau branzeturi.

• Unlike the Kalimna Shiraz, which is a multiregional blend, the 2016 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz comes from that specific subregion of the Barossa Valley. It's a clear step up and a lovely wine, with bold berry fruit flavors framed by cedar and vanilla. It's full-bodied and plush, with that generous Barossa Valley character married to the dense Penfolds house style.

• Named after the Barossa sub-region of Marananga, with its rich red soils on the central valley floor, this Penfolds classic spends 12 months in a mix of American and French hogsheads and puncheons, giving this distinctively aromatic red the fragrance of spices. Beneath, concentrated, smooth and textured mulberry and dark berry richness shows youthful vigour, with a fine underpinning of toasty oak and dark chocolate. It has a youthfully tight spine of fresh, almost crisp, acidity assuring potential for lengthy cellar ageing. Home-made burgers and rump steak please!

• Sourced from the powerful Western Barossa and fueled by an early and warm vintage. The nose is all blackberries and tar, together with some iron and sanguine aromas and plenty of woody spices, black tea, raisins and an earthy, coal-smoke edge. There's a bold core of very ripe, dense and deep-set black fruit on the palate with dark plums, blackberry essence and a wealth of clove and cardamom spices. The tannins wrap long and super deep. The density here seems effortless. This has at least a decade of life ahead of it. Drink now or hold.
